Team LifeLines was the top team at the AFSP Community Walk in Thibodaux on November 17, 2017. We raised $4800 and were almost 100 members strong. I can not explain the joy that I felt in my heart and soul on this day. Not just to be surrounded by my wonderful team, but to also be surounded by people who have been affected by suicide. There was a memory wall there where people had posted picture of their loved ones and wrote loved notes on the boared next to the picture. I stood for what seemed like a hour, but was only for a few minutes, as the brass band behind me played, I'll Fly Away, and began to cry like a baby. I couldn't stop crying as I seen the faces of the child that won't be home for Christmas. I was crying for the child whose Mom wan't be cooking a turkey on Thanksgiving. I couldn't help but think about the the son that won't be watching the Saints on Thanksgiving Day. I weeped because I wish I could have reached them and said you are not alone and Team LifeLines is here for you.
Then it came time to walk and Team LifeLines were in our bright yellow shirts that could be seen from miles away. We were at the very front of the pack because we were the largest team and raised the most money, but that is not the real reason we were at the front. We were at the front because we earned that spot. Team LifeLines are not just a group of people that are just out there to be seen, we are out the working hard to make sure we make a difference in peoples lives. We make sure that people our our first priority. I am so proud to be called a Team LifeLines member.
